Free Motion Quilting Play

Free Motion QuiltingHere’s my latest playing with free motion quilting.   What do you think?

Free motion long arm quiltingI did some stitch in the ditch as well as meandering free motion quilting.  The maker took effort to make the pieced diamonds and I wanted to enhance the work without packing them down.  I chose to stitch in the ditch here.

Quilt backThe back was pieced.  I love how the quilting shows in the different fabrics.  You can see in the photo above that I crosshatched one of the wide borders which included outlined stars and flowers.  The very thin yellow border was stitched in the ditch.Long arm quilting

What do you think?  I LOVE feedback!  Thanks.

I love how you kept the quilt-piecer in mind while you use your creativeness to quilt it. I also love the contrast of the white thread against the green/blue. Lovely job, Emily.

  2. Thank you for your comments, Ruth. Sometimes I know exactly how I want to quilt and other times it’s a struggle. This quilt was a mixture of both – the diamonds were “easy”; the background just happened as I started.
